Early Life – Shihabi was born on September 22, 1989, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and brought up between Riyadh, Beiru, and Dubai along with her siblings. She is the daughter of Nadia and Ali Shihabi. Her father is of half Saudi-half Norweigian descent whereas her mother is of Palestinian, German, and Haitian descent. She described herself as a movie lover since her childhood and, this is the reason why and how she became interested in acting.
Career – Shihabi enjoyed watching films from an early age this is how her passion for acting was developed. She started learning dance from Sharmilla Kamte, better known as the “Dance Queen of the United Arab Emirates”, renowned dance teacher at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre Chaloub Studio. Later, she became a member of her modern professional dance team.
During her school days, she used to participate in plays and stage performances in order to improve her acting skills. Having decided to pursue acting as a full-time career, she moved to Los Angeles and enrolled at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts for two years from 2008 to 2010.
Her on-screen career began when she starred in a short film titled Rx where she played Sylvia in 2010. That same year, she kicked off her television career as well after having a guest appearance in the comedy series “Landing in Mumbai” followed by two more small appearances in the family drama film David and in the short film Ben.
In 2014, she was chosen to play the titular role of Amira in the romance drama Amira & Sam. It was her first leading appearance that made her noticed for the first time by the critics and audience. The role helped her to appear in a short film Post-Emma in the same year and in a mini TV series Burt Paxton in 2015.
Over the years, she starred in several films and short films including Madam Secretary, Good Funk, Cul-de-Sac, Cherry Pop, Cigarette Soup, and BKPI. Her first breakthrough role came in 2018 when she was cast to play Hanin in Amazon Prime Video’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Her performance was outstanding and appreciated by cinema lovers. After this, she had a two-episode appearance in Marvel’s superhero action series Daredevil.
Her other best-known performances include Dig 301 in Netflix science fiction Altered Carbon and Melody Pendras in Netflix horror mystery Archive 81.
