Does CBP realize that they lose a lot of officers only due to location preferences. I don’t know if it’s just me that thinks this way. For example, I’ve known at least 5 CBPOs that have left to ICE and said if they had their home port they wouldn’t leave. I’ve also heard other agencies will work with you, for example “work Calexico for two years and then we’ll get you Atlanta”. I just can’t help but think if there was a better structure in retaining new hires at southern land border ports. For example sign a 2-4-6 year contract like preclearance and every 2 year you get more options than NROB. Like the one for preclearance. This would retain a lot of officers in southern border ports in my opinion.
